Sending a Document
Before you start
- Have the document ready as a PDF, up to 25 MB. Frankfig checks the file itself, not its name — a renamed Word file is refused.
- Have the recipient's email address.
The four ways to send
Compose opens New message. The first choice is how it travels:
| Channel | What goes | What the recipient gets |
|---|---|---|
| Secure link | The document | An email with a link; the document is held by Frankfig, not attached to the email |
| Secure | A message | Delivered over the Frankfig network to another practice's network address |
| A message | An ordinary email; no attachment | |
| Fax | A message | A fax to the number you enter |
A secure link carries the subject and the document, and no typed message. Email and fax carry your typed message and no attachment.
Sending a secure link
- Click Compose, then Secure link.
- Enter the recipient's email address, or pick them from your contacts. A picked contact's name goes into the email greeting; a typed address gets no name.
- Enter a subject. Your recipient sees it as a labelled line on the link page; the email's own subject line is written by Frankfig.
- Choose how long the link lasts, or leave it on your organisation's link window — four days.
- Optionally tick If they don't open it, fax it. — see Tracking a send.
- Attach the PDF.
- Click Send via Secure link.
Your recipient receives an email with the link. They need no account and no password.
What the recipient sees
The link opens in their browser. They can View the document, Download it, and confirm they received it. Confirming shows on your Sent page as Opened.
Once the link has expired, the same page says the link doesn't work any more and to ask you for a new one. Frankfig doesn't tell the recipient why a link stopped working — expired, withdrawn and unknown links all read the same.
Signing
Signing is offered on a thread link, sent from inside a two-way thread, on Plus and Enterprise. It is one mark, not fields placed on a page: the recipient draws or types their name, then ticks a box confirming their intent. Frankfig records that they signed and when.
Threads are listed in the left navigation under your industry's word. This help site has no page on them.
There are no fields to place, no order of signers and nothing assigned per signer. If your process needs signatures on particular pages, send the document as a secure link and collect signatures the way you do today.
Sending on someone's behalf
A Support user's sends are recorded, on Sent and in threads, against the Professional they work for. Recipients see your organisation's name. See Roles and Permissions.
WARNING
A secure link holds the document with Frankfig rather than emailing it, but the link itself arrives by email. Check your obligations before sending anything you would not send to that address in any other form.
